XDict 0.3.0

The Windows shell, one setup board, and the sense you are reading. XDict 0.3.0 brings the Windows app into the repository, turns setup into one ordered board with Core Spotlight over your own words, and lets you name the sense you are reading and have the model explain that one — or tell you it does not fit.

Explain the sense you are reading#

• Click a sense in the entry and choose Explain This Sense​. The request carries the entry and the sense you chose; the answer says whether it fits.
• The pane shows the sense as printed, the explanation and the verdict. When the answer is Does not fit​, one more ask can find the sense the sentence actually uses.
• The chosen sense's text is the core's own projection, never the page's; the entry leaves XDict only with the disclosure switch you already set, and the switch is re-read immediately before anything is sent.
• On the All page the question is about the frame you clicked in, not the dictionary that happens to be shown.

One setup board, and Spotlight#

• Setup is one ordered board: dictionaries, reading, the privacy grants the features need, and what is left — each row says what it is for and what to do.
• Add Apple Dictionaries… lists what Dictionary.app knows is available and this Mac has not downloaded, so a missing dictionary is named instead of absent.
• Core Spotlight can index the headwords of your dictionaries (off until you switch it on), so a word can be found from Spotlight. Headwords only: no entry text is indexed.

Windows#

• The Windows shell — WinUI 3, the same capture contract, one Settings window and its own E2E harness — is now in the repository and in the shared core, with its first version line at 0.1.0. Its installer release is separate and unsigned until the signing certificate is in place.

Also in this release#

• Three version numbers now move independently: core 0.3.0, macOS 0.3.0, Windows 0.1.0.
• The end-to-end suite selects what a change can reach instead of every sub-stage; CI and git metadata no longer invalidate evidence, and a manifest edit is proven by the build gate and the launch smoke.

Install#

• Download XDict-0.3.0.dmg below, open it, and drag XDict to Applications. The app is signed and notarized by Apple.
