Review now teaches more. Moves are graded (?! inaccuracy, ? mistake, ?? blunder) and a game is analyzed when it opens, which can be turned off in Settings; network games are never analyzed. An evaluation bar sits beside the review board, a Show Best Move Arrow setting (off by default) draws the engine's choice, and the graph marks key moments, which VoiceOver can reach with a rotor. Retry mode steps through one side's mistakes and blunders and lets the learner find a better move before the engine's is shown. A review explains moves with tactics found in the real position, names the game's opening and says where it leaves theory. The arrow keys follow the Lichess model, including imagined lines, with the same commands in a new Go menu, and recorded variations show inline under the move they replace. The game library is organised: a file of many games opens as a collection instead of a long chooser, collections and saved reviews can be renamed, searched and sorted, and the sidebar lists the most recent reviews and the mini-games. Export writes imagined lines as variations, with the engine's evaluations only when engine help is allowed. Puzzles have a hint ladder (the piece, then words, then Reveal), and a hinted solve counts as solved with help. A wrong answer says why it fails. Missed puzzles come back sooner than solved ones on a Leitner schedule, through Review Due, and an optional Today's Mix offers a short set. Lessons record first-try success, link to their puzzles, and three lessons gain practice mates. A first-time learner is welcomed in three steps that place them in the course. On the board, a right-drag draws an arrow and a right-click a circle, coloured by modifier keys as on Lichess; a left click clears them. Practice, review and network games show captured pieces and the material lead. The pieces are drawn from Cburnett's vector set. Mini-games let the learner play Black where calibration shows the levels mean the same from both sides, keep results per level, and suggest a level change after three wins or losses in a row. Checkmate follows the Mac's conventions more closely: the standard menu order with a Help menu, Services and Open Recent, File > Close, Sidebar and Details named the same everywhere, PGN and FEN document types, and update checks that are off unless turned on. Game > Type a Move (Command-L) plays a move typed in SAN or as squares. VoiceOver reads the board as a grid with rotors for pieces and attacked squares, text follows the reader's text size, and on macOS 26 the control bar uses Liquid Glass buttons. Shown text goes through a String Catalog; this release still ships English only. The voice coach now connects only after the learner agrees once, in a sheet that says what is sent to OpenAI and when the microphone is used; a new install no longer connects at launch. Voice failures name their reason.
