XDict 0.4.0 finds the example translations a Chinese query appears in.
- A Chinese lookup also shows the bilingual example sentences whose translation contains it, from your own dictionaries, in the right pane.
- The matched Chinese is marked, the English original, dictionary and headword sit beneath it, and a row opens its entry.
- It works for constructions that are not headwords at all, such as 居然 inside a translation.
- Each dictionary's pair store is built in the background once per edition and answered by a substring scan, so lookups stay fast. Versions: macOS 0.4.0 (build 3), core 0.4.0, Windows 0.1.0 (unchanged). Requires Apple silicon and macOS 27 or later. Bring your own MDict dictionaries. Install or upgrade:

Validation: the core gate, the macOS suites, tool checks, lint and warnings, the three binding tests and the full landing gate passed on this tree. E2E was not run; it is on demand. The app and DMG are notarized, stapled and accepted by Gatekeeper on both Macs, with the release smoke on the stapled bundle. Build paths are no longer embedded in the shipped binaries.
