A small release for what you can see, and a large one for what holds it up. There is one local model now, and a Mac that cannot run it is told what it needs. The catalogue offered three sizes and the middle one was a promise to nobody: it applied only to a Mac with between 8.2 and 14 GB of memory, and no Apple Silicon Mac has ever shipped in that range — 8 GB falls below even its own floor. Qwen3.5-4B is the model. The row now says the local model needs 16 GB of memory instead of only refusing, and a Mac that cannot hold it reads with Apple's on-device model, or the simpler match below that. A stopped download no longer promises to keep what it has to throw away. It said "what arrived is kept". A file whose hash does not match its pin is discarded and fetched again, so it now says what it does. The setup board points the right way. It said the local model was "still one click away above". The model row is below that sentence. Opening Dictionary.app says when it cannot. The button that sends you there to enable a dictionary returned in silence if the app could not be found or would not launch — which looks exactly like having missed the window. Also, and this is most of the release: an audit of these changes found ten ways the end-to-end suite could agree with itself without checking anything. A report was judged by whether it printed something rather than by whether it succeeded, so a build with the instrument compiled out passed as working. A restart counted a wait running out as the app having restarted. And the 1 GB of memory held back so an answer cannot push you into swap was written on both sides of every test that checked it, so the whole suite passed with that reserve deleted. Each is fixed, and each now fails when the thing it guards is taken away.
