Fixes only — no feature moves, so the patch number does.
Your reading history stops repeating itself. A card was one lookup, and you meet the same word again: on the ledger this was found on, delirium had been looked up five times in 81 seconds in one sentence and drew five identical cards. 19 of 102 cards repeated a word already on screen that day; one day drew 9 cards for 4 words. A card now stands for every lookup that would have drawn it identically and says how many with a small ×5 beside the word. What it deliberately does not fold together is the load-bearing half: a different sentence is a different card, and so is a different sense of the same word in the same sentence — that is a disagreement you are entitled to see, not noise. Removing a card now removes every lookup behind it, rather than leaving the rest to bring it back.
And the header counts words again. It said "102 words" over a history holding 74, because it was counting cards.
Hover reads the word you pointed at. In a terminal, an image, or anything else that exposes no text, pointing anywhere in a path like /Users/you/projects/thing looked up Users — and the second half of any hyphenated compound gave you the first, so state-of-the-art answered state. Apple's text recognition cannot box anything finer than a run of non-whitespace, so all six words of that path came back sharing one identical box and the leftmost always won. The pointer now chooses which of them you meant.
The speak button tells you what it has, and where a better voice lives. macOS 27 has no voice list in System Settings at all — the download list survives only in VoiceOver Utility. The old text sent you to System Settings for a download that is not there, and named no voice, so you still had to guess. Settings → Reading now shows which voice will speak, names one worth getting where there is one, and opens VoiceOver Utility for you. A voice downloaded while the app is running is used immediately instead of after a relaunch. A language macOS genuinely has nothing better for is told that plainly, and one nobody has measured is no longer told the same thing — which is what every language outside English and Chinese used to hear.
The lookup panel holds still. It was resizing about twenty times a second for as long as it was open: every geometry change applied a step computed before the previous one had landed, so one card wanting a steady height drove the window between 404 and 120 points.
Smaller: a hover over XiaolaiDict's own panel could end the app; a reply from the model service, a truncated dictionary file and a bad run-up to a sentence no longer crash; and the repeat count no longer claims "in this same sentence" on a card that has no sentence.
